The SSW Desktop Agent includes a malware scanning feature that helps detect sensitive or potentially harmful files on your device.
This feature focuses on scanning Portable Executable (PE) files within specified folders or disks.
Scan Types
The Malware Scan provides three modes of scanning:
- Quick Scan
- Scans commonly used system locations.
- Fast execution, recommended for regular security checks.
- Deep Scan
- Performs a comprehensive scan across the entire system.
- Checks all folders and disks for PE files.
- Recommended for thorough security auditing.
- Custom Scan
- Allows you to manually select a specific folder or disk to scan.
- Flexible for targeted scanning of sensitive locations.
Scan Results
When a scan is complete, results will display:
- Total files scanned
- Potentially harmful PE files detected
- Recommended actions
For each detected file, you can choose to:
- Delete – Permanently remove the file.
- Quarantine – Isolate the file in a secure quarantine area.
Scan History
- All past scans are recorded in the Scan History section.
- You can review:
- Time and date of each scan
- Scan type (Quick, Deep, Custom)
- Number of threats detected and resolved
Manage Quarantine
- Suspicious files moved to Quarantine are securely isolated and cannot harm your system.
- From the Manage Quarantine section, you can:
- Review quarantined files
- Permanently delete them
- Restore files if marked safe
Security & Control
- Scanning targets only PE files, ensuring focused detection.
- User has full control to choose the scan scope and actions for detected files.
- All activities are logged in Scan History for transparency and auditing.
